Unveiled on December 11, the nominations for the 81st Golden Globes have been disclosed, setting the stage for the upcoming event scheduled for January 7. The anticipation builds as Hollywood gears up to honor the outstanding achievements in film and television at the highly awaited 81st Golden Globes ceremony.

Barbie and Succession emerge as frontrunners in the nominations for the 2024 Golden Globes, as unveiled on Monday morning. Each securing nine nominations in the film and TV categories, respectively, they dominate the highly anticipated lineup. Oppenheimer follows closely in the film category with eight nods, while Killers of the Flower Moon and Poor Things receive seven each. Notably, Netflix leads all film distributors with 13 nominations, followed closely by Warner Bros. Pictures with 12.

In the TV category, Succession takes the lead with nine nominations, closely pursued by The Bear and Only Murders in the Building, both boasting five nods each. The Crown follows with four nominations. HBO/Max emerges as the leading TV distributor with an impressive 17 total nods, with Netflix closely behind with 15.

The nomination announcements were made by Cedric the Entertainer and Wilmer Valderrama, encompassing various film and TV categories. Notably, the introduction of new awards, including recognition for stand-up comedy and cinematic and box office achievement, adds an exciting dimension. Surprises and snubs mark the nominations, with unexpected nods for Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, and Fallen Leaves’ Alma Poysti, while projects like Ferrari, Napoleon, Origin, and Swarm faced unexpected snubs.

The 2024 Golden Globes signal a shift, marking the first ceremony since the Hollywood Foreign Press Association was replaced by Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge.
