National Security Council (NSC) staff have been fired following Donald Trump’s meeting with Laura Loomer on Wednesday. During their conversation in the Oval Office, the far-right activist questioned the loyalty of certain officials and urged Trump to dismiss those she deemed disloyal, including his principal deputy national security adviser.
Laura Elizabeth Loomer (born May 21, 1993) is an American far-right political activist, conspiracy theorist, and internet personality. She has described herself as being “pro-white nationalism” and a “proud Islamophobe,” repeatedly making anti-Muslim statements in public settings. In April 2023, Donald Trump sought to hire Loomer for his presidential campaign, but his senior campaign advisors successfully discouraged Trump from doing so. By September 2024, some Trump supporters and others had expressed concerns about Loomer’s continuing presence and influence on Trump.
According to a source, Laura Loomer had put together a list of about a dozen names, and the following firings were directly linked to her meeting with some people in the Trump administration.
Activist Laura Loomer encouraged Trump to dismiss some officials from the National Security Council during a meeting in the Oval Office on Wednesday. The team has been facing questions about using a secure messaging app called Signal to discuss a Yemen military operation. Additionally, there was confusion over how a journalist ended up in their private group chat. Following this advice, Trump decided to take action, according to people.
The three officials include Brian Walsh, a director for intelligence and a former top staffer for now-secretary of state Marco Rubio on the Senate intelligence committee; Thomas Boodry, a senior director for legislative affairs who previously served as Waltz’s legislative director in Congress; and David Feith, a senior director overseeing technology and national security who served in the State Department during Trump’s First administration.
However, their boss, National Security Council (NSC) adviser Michael Waltz, was embroiled in the Signalgate and was not willing to fire, but he had to do it because of the high pressure.
