Iran Fires Missiles at Israel, Killing 4, Despite Trump’s Truce Declaration

Iran Fires Missiles at Israel

The southern city of Beersheba is reeling, with Israeli media reporting at least three fatalities due to Iranian missile volleys, even as U.S. President Donald Trump announced a “12-day war” ceasefire between Israel and Iran, which is set to unfold in stages.

Despite earlier reports of a truce, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi clarified that there is no ceasefire agreement with Israel. He stated that Iran would cease its attacks only if Israel halted its “illegal aggression” by 4 a.m. local time (00:30 GMT), a claim that Israel has yet to address. This follows Iran’s retaliatory missile strike on a U.S. military base in Qatar, which occurred just hours after U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear sites.

The conflict has reportedly claimed over 400 lives in Iran, including 13 children, and has left more than 3,000 wounded. Meanwhile, Israeli casualties from Iranian strikes stand at 24.

Following President Trump’s announcement of a complete ceasefire to end the 12-day Israel-Iran war, Israel’s military reported waves of Iranian missile launches on Tuesday. Emergency services confirmed three fatalities in Beersheba, marking the first reported deaths in Israel since Trump’s Monday evening ceasefire declaration.

Trump celebrated on Truth Social, congratulating both nations for their “stamina, courage, and intelligence” in ending the conflict and noting the phased ceasefire. A White House official stated that Trump had brokered the deal with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, contingent on no further Iranian attacks. However, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied any agreement, asserting that Tehran would only halt attacks if Israel ceased its “illegal aggression” by 4 a.m. local time Tuesday. Israel has not made any public comments.

This escalation followed Iran’s retaliatory missile strike just hours earlier on a U.S. military base in Qatar, responding to U.S. attacks on its nuclear sites. The casualties remain high, with Iran reporting over 400 deaths, including 13 children, and 3,056 wounded since Israel’s offensive began on June 13. In Israel, there have been 24 deaths due to Iranian strikes.

The conflict’s resolution remains uncertain, despite market reactions favoring peace. Both sides continue military operations, with Israel issuing evacuation warnings in Tehran, and Iran’s SNN agency reporting another missile launch. The U.S. maintains that its aim was solely to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program.
