The nominations for the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards have been revealed, and you have two months to get caught up on some of the best from this year. The television series “Severance” made a big splash with 27 Emmy nominations announced on Tuesday, while the comedy “The Studio” followed closely with 23 nominations. This records a successful year for Apple TV+.
No other drama came close to “Severance,” a show set in a strange workplace, which got a lot of praise and at the same time, fans are excited during its second season after getting these impressive nominations. Matt Cherniss, who oversees programming for Apple TV+, expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s been the best kind of morning.”
The lead actors in “Severance,” Adam Scott and Britt Lower, received nominations for their unique outstanding performances, where they play two versions of their characters – one at work and one at home. Tramell Tillman was recognized for his supporting role as their quirky boss, and Patricia Arquette earned a nomination for her role as a character who is pushed out of the main family business in the series. Plus, Ben Stiller was nominated for directing the exciting finale of Season 2.
On the comedy side, Emmy 2025 nomination, “The Studio” was expected to do well in its first season and exceeded expectations by outperforming more established shows like “Hacks” and “The Bear.” It matched a record set by “The Bear” last year with a total of 23 nominations. Seth Rogen, one of the creators of “The Studio,” received three nominations himself for acting, writing, and directing. He expressed surprise and satisfaction over the recognition, saying, “My ego is in shock,” and described the nominations as “very validating in a way that I’m not used to being validated.” The show also featured a star-studded list of guest appearances, earning nominations for well-known actors like Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, and Bryan Cranston, among others.
In another category, HBO’s drama “The Penguin,” which is part of the “Batman” universe, unexpectedly shone in the limited series category, receiving 24 nominations, including for lead actors Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti.
