The highly anticipated third and final season of Netflix’s global phenomenon, “Squid Game,” officially launched today, June 27, promising a darker and more despairing conclusion to the brutal survival saga. Fans around the world can now binge all six episodes exclusively on Netflix.
The new season picks up directly from the bloody cliffhanger at the end of Season 2, thrusting protagonist Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae), also known as Player 456, into his lowest point yet. Following a failed rebellion and the devastating loss of his best friend, Gi-hun is driven to “utter despair” by The Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun), whose true identity has been revealed as an infiltrator of the game.
Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has confirmed that this season will be the series’ conclusion, delving into “what Gi-hun can and will do after all his efforts fail.” The narrative explores the depths of human despair while questioning whether values like conscience and kindness can still exist within the unforgiving arena of the Squid Game.
Despite Gi-hun’s profound emotional turmoil, the games show no signs of stopping. He and the surviving players will be forced into even deadlier challenges, where every decision carry increasingly grave consequence. Meanwhile, The Front Man continues to orchestrate his sinister plans, with Netflix teasing that “the surviving players’ choices will lead to graver consequences with each round.” The core question remains: “Will Gi-hun make the right decisions, or will the Front Man finally break his spirit?”
Joining Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun, the returning cast includes Wi Ha-jun as Hwang Jun-ho, along with new additions Yim Si-wan as Myung-gi (Player 333), Kang Ha-neul as Dae-ho (Player 388), Park Sung-hoon as Hyun-ju (Player 120), Yang Dong-geun as Yong-sik (Player 007), Kang Ae-sim as Geum-ja (Player 149), Jo Yuri as Jun-hee (Player 222), Lee David as Min-su (Player 125), Roh Jae-won as Nam-gyu (Player 124), and Park Gyu-young as No-eul.
All six episodes of “Squid Game” Season 3 are available for streaming worldwide on Netflix starting Friday, June 27. The global release times include 3 a.m. ET / 12 a.m. PT in the U.S., 8 a.m. BST in the U.K., and 5 p.m. AEST in Australia.
