The Labour Party wins the Thursday parliamentary election with a resounding majority. The Labour Party, led by Keir Starmer, had won 360 seats as of 5.24 am (UK local time), topping the 326-seat mark needed to create government. Keir Starmer is set to become the party’s first prime minister in 14 years. Shortly after the election, a poll suggested Keir Starmer, the leader of the centre-left Labour party, would be the next prime minister.
Keir Starmer was first elected as a member of Parliament from London in 2015. A lawyer by profession, he has two children and his wife, Victoria, works for the National Health Service (NHS). The late Queen Elizabeth II knighted 61-year-old Keir Starmer for his contributions to criminal justice and the law.
